About Company
Nokia Corporation is a Finnish multinational technology company with a rich heritage of more than 150 years, founded in 1865. Over its history, Nokia has evolved from its early days (paper and rubber manufacturing) into a global leader in telecommunications infrastructure, network technologies, mobile communications and technology licensing. Today, Nokia provides comprehensive solutions for mobile networks (4G, 5G, eventually 6G), fixed and optical networks, cloud and network services, software, Internet of Things (IoT) and enterprise networks.
It operates in more than ~130 countries, serves service-providers, enterprises and public sector customers, and emphasises open architecture, sustainability, and innovation.
The company has undergone multiple transformations—most notably divesting its mobile handset business (which it sold/changed, focusing rather on network equipment) and refocusing on its core strengths in networks and technology.
Key strengths include a large patent portfolio, strong research and development (via e.g., Bell Labs), and a global footprint in network infrastructure. At the same time, the company faces market challenges including intense competition (e.g., from Ericsson, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.), changing telecom investment cycles, rapid technological change, and the need to shift toward services and recurring-revenue models.
Nokia’s strategic focus includes enabling digital transformation, cloud-native network architectures, connectivity for enterprises and industrial sectors, sustainability in operations, and capturing growth opportunities in private wireless, edge computing and 6G.
