About Company
State Bank of India (SBI) is India’s oldest and largest commercial bank, tracing its roots to the Bank of Calcutta, founded in 1806.
Headquartered in Mumbai, the bank is an Indian multinational public sector banking and financial services statutory body with a vast domestic presence and overseas operations. SBI provides a wide spectrum of banking and financial services—from personal banking (savings, loans, digital banking) to corporate banking (working capital, project finance), NRI services, insurance, investment management, and more.
The bank emphasises customer centricity, innovation (including digital banking through its YONO platform), rural and financial inclusion, and strong values of service, transparency and ethics.
With over 22,900 branches, 63,000+ ATMs and presence in international markets, SBI is clearly a multinational organisation (MNC) in scope.
The bank faces challenges typical of large banking institutions: regulatory oversight, managing non-performing assets, the shift to digital banking, adapting to market changes and competition from private and foreign banks.
Nonetheless, SBI remains a dominant force in Indian banking, deeply embedded in the financial infrastructure of the country and serving tens of millions of customers.
